According to documents released by undisclosed parents whose children attend R.I. Meyerholz Elementary School in Cupertino, California – a Silicon Valley community. A third-grade teacher started teaching a lesson on “social identities” in the middle of a math class. The lesson encouraged children to ‘deconstruct their racial and sexual identity, and rank themselves according to ‘power and privilege.’
The teacher asked all students to create an “identity map,” listing their race, class, gender, religion, family structure, and other characteristics. The teacher explained that the students live in a “dominant culture” of “white, middle class, cisgender, educated, able-bodied, Christian, English speaker[s],” who, according to the lesson, “created and maintained” this culture in order “to hold power and stay in power.”
In another assignment, the children were asked to write short essays describing which aspects of their identities “hold power and privilege” and which are “oppressed” – ranking themselves according to their intersectional hierarchy.
Parents at the school were scandalized. “They were basically teaching racism to my eight-year-old,” said one parent, who rallied a half dozen families to protest the curriculum and demanded a meeting with the principal. One Chinese-American parent compared the training to the Cultural Revolution: “Growing up in China, I had learned it many times. The outcome is the family will be ripped apart; the husband hates the wife, children hate parents. I think it is already happening here.”
Luckily, the group of Asian-American parents was able to shut down the training from the school. But they are worried that the cultural revolution is spreading: “We think some of our school board members are [critical race theory] activists, and they must go.”
Previously The Christian reported that in other schools around the country, teachers are rapidly fomenting the Critical Theory ideology and requesting that their schools only teach modern era literature. The sustained effort led by Critical Theory ideologues had the intention to ban books from schools; On the list of banned books is Homer’s Odyssey, which was recently banned by a school in Massachusetts. “It’s a tragedy that this anti-intellectual movement of canceling the classics is gaining traction among educators and the mainstream publishing industry,” says science-fiction writer Jon Del Arroz, one of the rare industry voices to defend Ms. Cluess. “Erasing the history of great works only limits the ability of children to become literate.”

By teaching children critical theory and the like, children learn that American values and American history are wrong. Furthermore, children are learning that our history of freedom is a lie. [/wpdiscuz-feedback] Meanwhile, children are evidently being taught more about their social identity from a construed sense of political justice.
Also, while it is unclear if the two are related, another dangerous school program comes to mind. Social and Emotional Learning, which the Cupertino Social Identities lesson could fall under, allows behavioral psychology and spiritualism to run rampant within schools.
“Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions,” explains the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), one of the leading outfits promoting SEL.
“With a growing number of partners, CASEL is creating a more comprehensive approach to education, one that will lead to a more equitable, just, and productive society,” the organization’s website boasts under the headline “SEL as a Lever for Equity,” hitting multiple key buzzwords associated with the far-left “social justice” movement. What’s the problem with that? The purpose of the SEL is to reform society, one child at a time.
“SEL competencies can be leveraged to develop justice-oriented, global citizens, and nurture inclusive school and district communities,” it states, adding that the programs will involve getting children to “assess power dynamics” and confront “issues of race and class across different settings.”
As we can see in the slides below, the above is similar to what is taking place in Cupertino.
